LIfe as a peasant women
My life is not easy. Especially because I'm a peasant women in the Middle Ages.Living at that period was really hard for me and almost every peasant alive. I had no rights and a lot of duties. My day would start really early in the morning. I would work for so many hours in the sun looking after animals such as chicken and i would also collect berries and herbs from the fields of the lord's land. That is what i would do to get the rights to work the land and get something to eat. I also had to repair the lords bridges, roads, and fences. It was really harsh because the government would give us a little amount of money. This money is for us and a tax to a church.

The manor we worked in was a small, self-sufficient world. Me and my family would cooperate to produce everything we needed, from food and clothing to simple furniture and tools. The manor had dozen clustered huts in the village. The manor also included a water mill to grind grain, a tiny church, and the manors house. The field we worked in was divided into narrow strips of land. Each family had strips of land in different fields so the good and bad fields were shared fairly. Half of the land was fallow so it can regain its fertility by the following year.

As a peasant women, i was forced by my parents to get married at a young age. Because i'm a peasant, i have to pay a fee to the lord so i could get married. I really hated how we paid fees for everything. We paid for marriage, inheriting land, and using the local mill. Since money disappeared largely from Medieval Europe. We paid these things with products such as grain, fruit, honey, eggs, or chicken. By getting married, It was hard for me because now i have to do hard work as a wife and a peasant. I was also sent to get education of how to dedicate my life to my family and work at the same time. However, marriage was hard, since we were so poor. We lived in a two-room cottage made of wood with thatched roofs. This house was very cold in winter and so hot in summers, it was really bad. One more disadvantage in this hard life is the food. Our diet is very simple and mostly it doesn't involve cooking because we cant afford buying something that could be cooked, like meat, unless we pouched it. We used to eat black bread, vegetables, peas, cabbage, turnips, and onions.

As a peasant with responsibilities i rarely get to do something entertaining. However, I find opportunities to celebrate Christmas, births, and marriages. As a child before, I really didn't care about money. Even though my parents forced me to work, i would always go out, have fun, and sleep. Now that I'm all grown up, I know how important money is and that i have to work really hard to survive. I'm not a kid anymore and i have a lot responsibilities.
Being a peasant has so many drawbacks, but there are benefits too. As a peasant, I had the right to have a few acres for myself. I also got the protection from Vikings or feudal warfare. Even in wars, we would be protected in castles from marauders, invading armies, and barbarians in nearby lands. Best thing in being a peasant is that we were guaranteed food, housing, and land.
